The idea of the process used by other artists being the key to the result is so important. Sometimes the work looks so random and simple, but once one gets down to it, there is a lot of experience and skill put to use in the making. I think we have to learn to be more generous in our practice, and allow ourselves to make things that won't be finished work, just trials along the way.
