Thin Blue Line - Gythion Glow

As the exhibition has now opened, time to reveal my contribution ' Gythion Glow'. The challenge was to produce a quilt 30 x 120cm , either horizontal or vertical format with a 'thin blue line' running horizontally across it

This is what its looked like to start with - kimono fabric with curved strip inserts, heavily stitched by machine and hand quilted.
Then I painted over it with acrylics! (detail below)

This is a really beautiful piece. Looking at what you started with, and then how you finished it is amazing. I'm relly liking the stitching first, then painting, it is so effective.

It is so lovely Margaret! And great to see what others have done....... And very, very brave to paint with acrylics on top of the background quilt, maybe one day I will dare to take this route too?

I can only reiterate that it is beautiful.

This looks rather splendid. I like the vertical slice of a subject which we think of as essentially horizontal.

Stunning result & very interesting way of working. I love the way the paint and stitch work together.

This is too cool! I admire your painting abilities. I too feel it a risky dare to do the painting after the stitching. Ack!
